This group meets monthly and is a consultative body for three housing associations. Their aim is to help break down barriers for BME communities.
Current Project – Communication
The group are currently working on a Communication Project which aims to support tenants who do not have English as a first language.
Their research so far has found that communication in native languages is preferable for some of our tenants. This has been discussed with our leadership team. As a result, where applicable, future job roles advertised at Taff will include a community language requirement as part of the specifications.
Over the past 10 years the BME group have been consulted by other housing associations, the Police and the NHS to advise on a range of cultural and religious issues.
They have received training on Equality Impact Assessment and assist Taff with new Policies and Policy renewal including:
- Anti-social behaviour
- Pet Policy
