Introduction
This accessibility statement applies to:
Taff Housing is committed to making our website accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of disability, technology or ability.
We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) international standard version 2.2 as our guide and aim to meet level AA, while continuing to improve the accessibility and usability of our website
Using our website
We want as many people as possible to be able to use our website. This means you should be able to:
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard;
- zoom in without text disappearing from the screen;
- use the website with commonly used screen readers and other assistive technologies;
- understand the structure of pages through clear headings and labels; and
- access alternative text for images where this is needed.
We also aim to make the content on our website clear and easy to understand.

What we have done to improve accessibility
Following an accessibility review of our website, we made a range of improvements. These include:
- Enhancing keyboard navigation throughout the website, including the mobile menu and search functionality.
- Improving heading structures and page landmarks to support screen reader users.
- Adding accessible labels to buttons, links and social media icons.
- Improving colour contrast to ensure text is easier to read.
- Adding and reviewing alternative text for images where appropriate.
- Correcting list structures and other HTML markup to improve compatibility with assistive technologies.
- Improving accessibility of downloadable content and document links.
Known Accessibility Limitations
Whilst we have addressed the vast majority of issues identified during our accessibility audit, some parts of our website and some third-party functionality may not fully meet accessibility requirements.
Our live chat service is provided by a third-party supplier and certain elements of the chat interface are generated externally. As a result, we have limited control over some accessibility features within this component. We continue to work with suppliers where possible to encourage accessibility improvements.
Our current website setup also means that PDF is the only file type accepted for uploaded documents. Although we aim to make these documents as accessible as possible, some PDFs may not be fully accessible to people using screen readers or other assistive technologies.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is an ongoing process, with standards and approaches continuing to develop to improve people’s experiences when accessing information and services online.
We continue to review our website and content to identify opportunities for improvement and help maintain accessibility standards as the site evolves.
We carry out quarterly internal accessibility reviews using the WAVE web accessibility evaluation tool alongside manual checks. A selection of pages is reviewed each quarter.
Any issues identified are recorded and put forward to be addressed. Depending on the issue, this may involve technical changes by our website developers or manual improvements by Taff, such as updating content or alternative text for images.
